Blomma is a small portable house appliance for refreshing and cleaning of your personal everyday clothes such as socks, t-shirts or panties. You can take it anywhere and it can be operated by anyone. Blomma is a closed system for fabric care using nanogel to detect and clean all kinds of spots and dirt, and which removes any body odor and unpleasant smells, refreshing the fabric with a pleasant fragrance of choice. It runs on a Stirling motor installed in the center which produces vibration moving the clothes and nanogel. The Stirling motor functions with a 30°C difference between a top and a bottom component. That difference can be obtained by either heating one component in the sunlight, or cooling the other one in the fridge. The structure is inspired on the blossoming of flowers, with smart alloy “petals” that react to an impulse. Electronics for the HCI are all low energy, and the Stirling motor together with energy harvesting technology, allows this appliance to function off-grid.
