Book Cover Collaboration
This project was part of an collaboration assignment in my Creative Processes class. The goal was to brainstorm an idea with a partner, choose a topic and medium, and then create different iterations of the idea by sending work back and forth until we were satisfied with the results.
After some discussion about our art styles and interests, me and my amazing partner, Anna Zamora, decided to create a nature-themed book cover in an impressionistic style. Once that was decided, I created two thumbnails for the layout of the cover.
We decided to go with the first thumbnail, a rolling hill landscape with a single tree and billowing clouds above.

Anna created the first iteration on photoshop, setting up the main hills. I then made a second iteration including the clouds and flowers.
Anna came up with a name for the book and author, since the cover would be for an imaginary book, rather than a copyrighted story.

She experimented with the text fonts and effects in the third iteration. I changed the font and some of the type placement on the fourth iteration. I also attempted to frame the illustration to make it more visually interesting.

I wasn't ecstatic about the frame I had created. Luckily, Anna put together a wonderful gold and green frame for the final iteration, along with a cute little friend below the tree. After some minor tweaking of the text placement, we were done!
