Fall -Meadow Cortese
 My journey throughout the semester
During my first semester I've learned a lot about composition, lighting, colour theory, depth of field and such more but while learning these things I also faced a lot of challenges along the way. "fall" was one of my first ever portrait shots that I have taken while learning about depth of field, it really helped me understand camera placement, angles all while trying to figure out how posing my model for the shot. I feel like doing this soot made me start to recognize what my style is and what I like to photograph.
when I started to get more into street photography I noticed that this was a bit more challenging for me. I'm a very introverted person so seeing as street photography consisted mostly of taking pictures of individuals on the street I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be capable of doing such. I found that taking photos of more buildings and architecture was more suitable for me. in my first photo here I used some elements that I learned in different classes to come out with a good image, as you can see the car doesn't look like it's fully still in the photo but also is still visible. my second photo I don't think was one of my best but I liked how the framing aspected turned out in the finished product.
during the semester I got to learn more about lighting while working in the studio. for the first image here we were working with hard and soft lighting concepts trying to figure out what the best positioning of the light would make for different depths in our shadows. One of my biggest challenges/struggles throughout this semester was definitely trying to figure out how I'm able to change the stops on my camera to make sure that my pictures have the right exposure. to help myself solve this challenge I would always ask questions and make sure that I'm able to understand everything that is being taught because I learned very quickly that your teachers are always there to help you succeed.
The Distance -Meadow Cortese
thought the semester my thoughts and perspectives on photography have changed a lot. I used to think that I really wanted to gear myself more towards street and landscape photography, but at the end of the semester I realizing more that I like portrait and still life photography more than anything. "the distance" is my most recent portrait photo taken while learning about ratios. I did have a hard time with this shoot but I feel as though it turned out a great photo. the black seamless makes the models shirt really pop and stand out more and you can see that she has a mysterious expression on her face. what I like the most of this photo is all of the negative space that is shown within it. it's a very simple yet powerful image. I fell as though this semester has taught me a lot and I am truly looking forward to all the more that I can learn.
