Welcome to my personal UE5 Render Project
How is it going, everyone? Just wanted to walk you through the process of creating and making my UE5 render with the help of many other software and show you some of the skills I've learned so far, hope you'll enjoy it!
So, the very first step is creating a mood and scenario. In my case, the main driver is the song which defines the atmosphere and the dynamic of this shot. The way I see this song is some dark, sci-fi exile inside of the singer's head. Then I filled myself with more artistic and technical inspiration in terms of colors and lights, having searched for some references including color palettes. Here are some nice pictures of them:
The second step is creating a short animation using the song in Houdini's timeline as a dynamic driver for animation. Generating hair for the 3d character representing the singer. Technically preparing the geometry in Houdini for importing into Unreal. Here are some screenshots as well:
The third step is Assembling the scene in Unreal Engine 5.3, using almost all the tools available: Importing everything made in the previous step, putting the assets from megascans, building the shaders, creating the light, technically optimising the project and the scene, nicely setting up the render settings for best effect. Here is my breakdown video with all the steps:
The fourth and final step is compositing in after effects. The pictures of all stages:
Used Software:
Houdini: animation, modelling, UV unwrapping, generating hair and etc.
Unreal Engine 5.3: materials, lighting, render.
Photoshop: texturing, cutting and editing images, etc.
After Effects: color-correction, compositing, VFX.
Hope you enjoyed this. Thank you for your attention!
