Brief:
To design and illustrate 50 posters of Irish language words, phrases and traditional Irish proverbs.
The illustrations for the posters had to target 8 to 11 year old children. The style needed to be cartoon-like, but very clear and understandable visually. The posters had to feature a family of characters for use on all posters and throughout a variety of mostly real-life scenes.
Each poster would be 1 of 5 under a category heading. These categories were:
Weather | School | Food | Hobbies | Clothes | Myself | Occasions | At Home | Shopping | Media
Each poster should feature a main space illustration or grid of illustrations to explain 15 to 20 word labels with a corresponding visual.
Each poster should leave space for 5 phrases too, these could be integrated into the narrative of above illustrations, but this was not a priority.
Each poster also had to allow a space for a proverb and supporting illustration, separate from the others.
Each poster would require extensive review and proofing for educational accuracy and clarity.

Specifications:
2 versions of each poster had to laid out for a total of 100 layouts.
50 in A3 format for print and supply as a special addition to the Irish language supplement, Foinse, then a part of the Irish Independent and distributed with same.

These versions also had to be laid out in 50 slightly modified digital formats for use on Interactive White Boards in the classroom for online distribution by the government agency, COGG.
