Kanto Display Typeface

Kanto
Kanto is a display typeface meant for wayfinding signages. It is inspired by the hand-painted signs of my neighborhood, capturing the nuances and creating uniformities that are required of a typographic system.
The typeface was done as part of the requirements for VC 134.2 under Jo Malinis, the first comprehensive type design course in the University of the Philippines.
The typeface was made throughout the course of one semester, going through several iterations. The pictures shared below show a glimpse of the process.
Kanto is available for commercial use. Please reach out to my email for inquiries.
