BOOK MAKING
Concertina Book
I created a mock up concertina book, mainly just to experiment with the process and to all look at my images and design them in a layout of a book. This was a nice process and I enjoyed creating it as it's different from a normal book as the layout of the photos is very different and more creative and interactive.
Japanese Binding Book
Secondly, I created a Japanese Binder book. This is quite an intricate process but when I figured out how to do it, it was't as hard as I thought it would be.
It's a nice alternative to using staples to bind the book, or a hard spine. It wa enjoyable to take the time to sew the spine and it's also more sustainable as the thread is biodegradable which is important.
These are some of the pictures I took of the press and the final outcome.
I also added a front and back cover just using card which was a nice finishing touch to the book and made it become more stable.

The paper inside the book is recycled paper that I printed onto. I did this so that the book is more eco friendly and sustainable as this is an important part in my project.
When on a Trip to London - The Photographers Gallery, I saw a book that had been Japanese Binded which stemmed my inspiration to create this book as I really like the way that this book looked and think the process is very creative.
