Pinhole Project
Summertime fun
These pictures were made whith a hand made pinhole camera. I made my firstone at college, but soon after I decided to make another one, with better qualitiy and more durable than the first.
The device was made of hard and thick paper, which were used to make book covers. The size is: 15×15×15 cm. The hole is drilled in a thin metal sheet, but you can use a simple pin, but be careful, don't push it through the metal, just push it, until a small hump comes out on the other side of the sheet. Than use a soft sandpaper to sand the top of the hump. This is the hardest part, because the size of the hole depends on it. I made a small "paper casette" inside of it, to keep the paper in position. The shape of the paper depends on you, "Dr. Scissors" can help you. There are a few rounded pictures lower, I think they are more interesting, because of the shape than the others. The developing was analog, but the positive pictures were made in computer. Photoshop and Camera Raw can do a lot of things for these pics. Of course I tried not to loose the tipical "pinhole way of look" so, the sharpness and light were untouched.
This picture was made inside a stone sculpture in the garden of MOME.
This is a negative picture, scanned, undiveloped in Photoshop. The Picture was made in Budapest, in the MOME (Moholy-Nagy Art Universitiy)
This is the positive picture made from the upper negative.
Negative pictute made at the MOME university. The original size is 12×12 cm.
The positive part. The vignettes were made in Photoshop to clear up the cutted edges.
Anotherone made at the stairs.
Behind the building. 10×10 cm 2009.
So, these were few of my best shots with the pinhole camera. I used simple Foma photo paper to make the negatives, but you can use any kind of, wich you prefer.
I hope you enjoyed it, more will be come soon.
