The Plaid Project

The Challenge: Work with a partner to design a garment that tests your draping skills using four yards of an assigned plaid fabric. The final garment will be graded on originality, complexity, and innovative use of the plaid fabric.
Our original yardage of plaid fabric
After brianstorming, my partner and I decided that instead of manipulating the fabric with pleats (like the majority of our other classmates) we would cut each individual square of color out and re-construct it to create an ombred color scheme. The low cut top was reinforced using hand beaded tabs.
This dress was featured in The Fashion Show 2013 at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
