TINY HOUSE
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING - AIN SHAMS UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE
1ST YEAR - 2ND TERM DESIGN PROJECT
The challenge is to use the “volumetric shape” of a shipping container as a “volumetric design module” to design a prototype of a single “Tiny Home” unit considering that the “Tiny Home” single unit should be composed of only two volumetric design modules, i.e., two shipping containers.
Design should reflect the personal needs of its users who would be by maximum three persons. They may be a small nuclear family (two parents with a young child), or three friends at most. The design has to serve as an upgrade to the standard of living of the users. While being very functional, it should also be aesthetically appealing. The unit should be a prototype, making the optimum use of space, and it needs to be explained in detail. Your design should cater to different personal needs (rest, bath, cook, and work). You are free to add more spaces required in the design
