DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE | student book cover

Choosing a typographic approach for this project, the aim was to portray the gradual transformation of Dr. Jekyll, a well respected, elegant member of Victorian society, into the violent creature Mr. Hyde.

The upper part of the book title is set in Baskerville, an elegant, classic typeface, reflecting Dr. Jekyll’s social status. The torn and scratched paper with the blood red background portrays Dr. Jekyll’s resistance to and fear of Mr. Hyde’s take-over of his very being. The typeface is now chaotic and distressed.
