SCHOOL IN SENEGAL | KAIRA LOORO

The Rainwater Harvesting School is a unique educational facility located in a rural village in southern Senegal. It provides an innovative solution to the region's water shortage while providing education to the local community. The school consists of bamboo modules specially designed to collect and store water, ensuring a sustainable water supply throughout the year. Each module is equipped with a hand pump that allows the extraction of water found in the foundation. They are distributed on the exterior side that can be used by the local community, as well as on the interior side where the stored water is for students and staff. The roof of the bamboo module is elevated above the brick walls of the building, which provides ventilation to the rooms, and also, thanks to its dimensions, creates a shade that protects from the sun.
