Safe Scoot was created to solve a local South African community issue experienced by food delivery drivers. The main issues in the food delivery community are a lack of employer support and infrastructure, unroadworthy motorcycles, and an overall lack of community support.The main objective of the application was to solve this issue externally via a gamified application, using positive reinforcement, motorcycle parts store collaborations, and business marketing opportunities to solve the above-mentioned problems. Through Safe Scoot, drivers are able to find bikes to rent, and they are able to maintain their motorcycles without needing large sums of funding as a result of the gamified aspect of the app, which works on a point-based system. Safe Scoot is an Android-based application.

How does the app work?

1) The app collaborates internally with a motorcycle parts store, which sells the required maintenance parts to drivers via points instead of physical money. (Drivers accumulate points via the app.)

2) Drivers accumulate points by advertising on their motorcycles; the advertisement deals are found on the application. By advertising effectively and thoroughly, they are able to unlock better advertisement deals that have larger point rewards. When they have enough points, they can purchase the required maintenance parts for their motorcycles. 

3) Other businesses all over South Africa can pay to add their advertisements to the app; all revenue is handed over to the motorcycle parts store to recover the lost profits from selling products for points. (Essentially, creating an advertising hub.)

Lastly, there are some other additional features, such as a rent marketplace where various individuals can rent their bikes to others, various safety measures such as crash detection, SOS, and many more features.

To conclude, the Safe Scoot product is an exceptional digital product solution that solves a South African problem effectively in theory. This is an exact demonstration of what I am trying to achieve as a designer: a South African solution for South African problems.
