The Collective - Cut The Rent
"Working in small groups you are asked to consider the idea of the collective. Identify and research three contemporary or historical instances of a Collective. This might be formal or informal. What unites its participants? How do they communicate an identity to an audience? Gather examples of this. Collectively design an A2 poster which promotes one or more of the values that you have identified."

When starting this project, I decided to focus on the housing crisis in Ireland as my contemporary instance of a Collective. I felt this was a suitable topic as it was a relevant topic with great potential for an A2 poster. I began researching housing crisis organisations and how they advertised towards their target audience.
During this project, I was supplied with a series of images to take inspiration of during the design process. Two of the images I took inspiration from was titled 'Select Your Network' and 'E Kruger Battleground'.

After finding inspiration from these images, I began working on the poster. I took photographs of student accommodation as main subject matter of the poster. Experimenting with many different layouts, I decided to use a grid system to reflect the 'Select Your Network' image. Using red as the primary colour, expressing the urgency of the issue.
Once I decided on the best layout, I decided to hand-cut the text physically. I was then able to scan the hand-written text into Photoshop and made necessary edits there.
