Final Output:
1. Restored the image by removing the damages like scratches, rips, tears and spots.
2. Applied color to all the details independently through Layer mask, clipping mask, brushes and overall image editing options in Photoshop

01 Import 
Imported the old damaged black & white image into phtoshop

02 Desaturation
Since the image had a slight green tint, removed the color cast and desaturated the image

03 Brightness & Contrast  modification
Adjusted brightness & contrast levels by changing input levels

04 Remove damages
Used Clone stamp tool, healing, Spot healing & pattern brush tools and removed rips, tears, damage spots etc.,

05 Image brightening
Brightened the details of the image using shadow/highlights option

06 Referencing
Chose and imported a reference photo to color pick skin tones & hair details

07 Face colouring & detailing
Apply base skin tone on the face using Layer mask, brushes
Adjust the HSL details after applying clipping mask
Repeat the process with various skin tones

08 Hair colouring & detailing
Apply base hair color  using Layer mask, brushes
Adjust the HSL details after applying clipping mask

09 Eyes white & retina correction
Remove the applied color from Eye white & retina using Layer mask, brushes

10 Overcoat Coloring
Apply solid color on over coat using Layer mask, brushes
Adjust the HSL details after applying clipping mask
Remove the color from Hip belt buckles

11 T-shirt colouring & detailing
Apply Solid color on Tshirt using Layer mask, brushes
Adjust the HSL details after applying clipping mask

12 Lip colouring & detailing
Apply Solid color on Lips using Layer mask, brushes
Adjust the HSL details after applying clipping mask

13 Background colouring & detailing
Make background selection using quick selection tool
Edit the background color using the global edit options like Levels, curves, color grading etc.,

14 Overall colouring & detailing
Performa overall color correction, HSL, levels & curves to get the subject & background blend with each other.

Challenges:
Removing spot damages from the photo since there were many micro dots.
Isolated editing of Subject & background 
Hair strand editing was time consuming
Shadows and midtones blending after applying solid colors

Conclusion:
Using Adobe Photoshop 2023 removed the damages like scratches, rips, tears and spots from an old black & white photo; Colourised the restored black & white photo.
