CARDIGAN CROCHET
Learning a new skill in 20 hours
ABOUT

It is said that it takes 10,000 hours to perfect a skill, and 20 hours to learn a new skill.
In this project, I’ve designed an infographic to visually represent my 20-hour journey into the world of crochet as I aspire to learn to master the creation of a cardigan. The infographic acts as a basic guide, systematically highlighting various aspects of the process, enabling individuals who wish to embark on a similar journey to create their own cardigan.
This infographic is designed for fellow crochet enthusiasts, beginners and anyone interested in learning how to crochet a cardigan. It provides a step-by-step visual reference to help individuals navigate the process, offering insights, tips and an understanding of what to expect during their own crochet journey.
ICONS

The infographic includes custom icons and illustrations to visually convey key elements of the crochet journey, such as yarn and hook symbols, square patterns and tools used in the process. The visual elements enhance the understanding of content and add an engaging visual dimension to the infographic.
PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is incorporated to showcase various stages of the crochet process. Photography images include the yarn and squares. The images provide real-world context to the infographic allowing viewers to connect with the tangible aspects of the project and visualize the journey. The photography displays what could be completed in the first 20 hours of learning a new skill.
PLANNING
The infographic maintains a neutral colour scheme in the background so as to not distract from the main elements and to ensure clarity and readability. The main colours used in the infographic are: green, blue, pink and purple. These are also the coloured wool I used to start making the cardigan. The colours complement each other and create a soft aesthetic feel. The colours are muted and pastel to convey a sense of warmth and comfort, reflecting the cosy and creative nature of the crochet work.
FINAL INFOGRAPHIC
MOCKUP
The content is presented in a logical and chronological order, mirroring the journey I undertook to acquire this new skill. On the left side of the infographic, the pattern I’m trying to achieve along with the measurement of the Cardigan is displayed. Then it leads your eye to the right side of the infographic which is the process of creation. This deliberate arrangement of content and visual elements guides the viewer through the crochet process with ease and enthusiasm.

The overall feel of the infographic is one of appropriability and encouragement of a shared experience. It aims to inspire others to embark on their own crochet journey by demystifying the process and highlighting the pains and gains
