THE UNCANNY
THE UNCANNY is my first film production, which consists of my first time in the industry. This is my first full-length film in which the total running time is 90 minutes, my first ever national film festival entry, as this is my production's official entry for the first ever Manila Film Festival, my first movie that has been premiered in film theaters such as SM Manila Cinema and the University of the Philippines Film Institute Film Center, my first movie that has been streamed online through EdukSine, my first movie that I experienced in a real-life press conference, and my first movie that made me nominated as Best Director for the festival. This film won one major and one minor award at the festival, which were Best Float and Best Child Actor. Winning Best Child Actor is evidence that I can make someone the best among the rest in terms of acting. My directing skills may not be enough, but they are a wonderful stepping stone for me as an aspiring film director. Being able to make my mother proud, as she was so happy to see my name on the big screen, is more than enough to win an award. It's a personal fulfillment for me that, at such a young age and as a student, I was able to achieve that kind of milestone that I would always be proud of.
Jax de Jesus, a 27 year old screenwriter, believes that it’s the only thing that she is holding on to. When she experiences a great writer’s block, she meets Kei Suarez, a 29 year old architect who is renovating their ancestral manor in the mountain city. Having a mutual admiration and bond in their first encounter, Kei invites Jax for at least one week's staycation on their manor to refresh her mind to be inspired again in writing. As the two spend their time together, a series of unexplained encounters, mysterious events, and unimaginable occurrences begin transpiring inside the halls and beneath the walls of the manor, leading them to weigh their consciousness and define the boundary between reality and illusion, truth and lies, good and evil.
