LASER SCANNING UI DESIGN
Hexagon and studiokurbos joined forces to develop user interfaces for high-fidelity laser scanners that utilize an unprecedented technology in the field of mobile scanning.
PRECISE „SLAM“ TECHNOLOGY
The SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology allows the viewer to experience a scan in real-time while it's being conducted. The system can simultaneously locate itself and create a map of its surroundings, while the point cloud technology is used to create a 3D mesh that accurately visualizes the environment and allows for precise perception of walls, objects, proportions, and distances.
INTUITIVE SOFTWARE INTERFACE
The innovative laser scanners are operated through a digital app. Together with Hexagon we designed user-friendly interfaces that work across multiple iterations of products with similar applications. The software design was developed intuitively and consistently, ensuring clear operation and optimal functionality of the devices.
BLK2GO PORTABLE USER-FRIENDLY
The BLK2GO is a handheld imaging laser scanner that creates a 3D digital twin while you walk through a space. It is the fastest and easiest way to scan a large building, structure or environment. One button is all you need to control the BLK2GO. Turn it on, walk, and the BLK2GO takes millions of accurate measurements to recreate the space accurately around you in 3D.
BLK2FLY DRONE SCANNING
BLK2FLY is the world’s first fully integrated LiDAR UAV. It is an autonomous flying laser scanner with advanced obstacle avoidance for easy reality capture from the sky. BLK2FLY autonomously captures exterior features and dimensions of buildings with a few taps on a tablet. Controlled through a tablet app, users can direct and manage the scanning process. In the user interface design, we made use of black and white elements to create a modern and visually appealing look. The user interface is intentionally reduced, with a selection of intuitive icons and clear labeling to make the user interaction as simple as possible.
MINIMALISTIC COLOUR SCHEME
The user interface design was intentionally simplified, taking inspiration from the product design. The predominant use of black color lends the design a modern elegance while also indicating high quality, maintaining the minimalist overall look. The entire interaction with the product is done through a single button whose LED color displays the current status. The LED colors green, yellow, or red are used specifically to communicate with the user. This resulted in a precise, intuitive, and elegant tech UI that harmoniously matches the product.
