The 6 Creative Strategies
In this project a used a common household object, a game die, to demonstrate 6 creative strategies. Using photoshop, I combined and manipulated existing images with my chosen object to create images that are interesting and compelling, and accurately represent the creative strategy referenced.
Title: Bet on Yourself
Combination/Juxtaposition: In this design I combined a graduation hat with the face of a die. The viewer will be encouraged to think about the link between higher education and making an educated bet on one's future success.
Title: Good Nutrition is a Safe Bet
Isolation: In this design I replaced the cereal in a bowl with dice cereal. I isolated one die in the spoon to bring emphasis to the unexpected material in the bowl.
Title: Don't Gamble With Your Time
Metaphor/Simile: In this design I replace the watch face with the face of a die. My intent was to cause the viewer to contemplate the importance of not treating time with the casual nature of rolling dice. Instead choose intentionally how you spend your time.
Title: Don't Leave the Future of Our Reef's Up to Chance
Change of Context/Environment: In this design I placed a die in an unexpected setting: the bottom of the ocean floor. Next to the coral and tropical fish, the unexpected dice calls attention to itself. The title suggests that we want to take care of our coral reefs and not leave their future up to chance.
Title: Childhood Shouldn't Be A Gamble
Physical Shape Similarity: In this design I replaced a child's alphabet block with a die because they are similar in shape. The title suggests we should be intentional with our children's education.
Title: Cold-Call
Material Change Swap or Focus: In this design I took an ice cube and applied dice faces to it to create an ice die. The title is a fun play on words that refers to both a "cold-call" in poker and "cold calling" potential customers.
