The biggest thing we wanted to highlight for the 2023 Beach Volleyball Season was the fact that the program was hitting a landmark 10 year anniversary! Despite being one of the youngest programs, the Beach Volleyball team had unique roots where a lot of previous players have remained with the program.
To really sell the historical aspect, I developed a look that drew inspiration from newspapers, collages, and even pop-up books. On the poster, I included photos of influential alumni who brought the program to where it is today, but kept them in two-tone as not to distract from our current seniors who were having their moment. I also featured the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium (also known as Death Volley) often in the look, as it's one of the only on-campus beach stadiums in the nation and therefore a major part of the program's history.
But the biggest piece of this look was the newspaper collage in the background. It incorporated article texts detailing the team's success, photos from the very first year, and even the very first article from LSU that announced the creation of the team! As the season progressed, this backdrop would change to fit specific events. For post-season, it was turned purple and gold and included current photos. For graduation graphics, the newspaper clippings were turned into diplomas with the names of our graduates. And then for Senior Day, the photos were changed to the headshots of our seniors and the text was changed to their bios!
