Week 7: Identity – 'Authenticity'

This lino print exploration proved difficult yet again due to the lack of correct relief-printing equipment as detailed in the Week 5 image explorations. From these images above, it is clear the use of gouache simply was not a suitable medium as it was too thick and difficult to work with.

Pictured above are the final resolved posters for the Week 7 image series. The chosen theme for these posters was authenticity—something I struggled with greatly growing up. The poster consists of a greyscale bitmap version of the reference photo used to create the self-portrait, and the self-portrait itself. While I am relatively pleased with the outcome of these resolved images, I do feel as though the posters are quite empty in the background. Perhaps some additional texture or more thoughtfully considered text placement would be beneficial and allow for a more evocative poster.
