MS300-03 | BirdFest Event
During the third term of my Motion Design degree, I was assigned the development of an event ident for a imaginary or real event. This task included crafting both the event opener and a continuous loop for the stage screen, designed for when presenters addressed the audience. The challenge revolved around creating visually captivating content that not only served as an introduction to the event but also supported the stage presentations.
For my project, I ventured into event design and stage setup, curating an immersive experience through footage and staging. I decided to create an event called BirdFest for birders based on a real event happening in Johannesburg at the time. This endeavor involved conceptualizing and executing the design for an event while taking charge of the stage setup. To infuse a unique touch, I incorporated old archival footage from old bird books. I upscaled and edited these scans in Photoshop. I used the new AI-generate tool in Photoshop for my stage design.

In the process of executing the BirdFest project, I encountered a notable challenge in harmonizing the aesthetics of old archival footage with the modern flair generated by AI in Photoshop. Blending these distinct styles posed as a hurdle, demanding a delicate balance to ensure a cohesive visual narrative. Additionally, grappling with time management emerged as a significant hurdle throughout this project juggling between refining the mixing of traditional and AI-generated elements while meeting project deadlines resulted in a clash of styles. Despite these hurdles, witnessing the final result brought a sense of fulfillment and contentment. The struggle in fusing these contrasting styles and the time management challenges ultimately led to a finished project that I'm genuinely proud of.
