Where have we been? Where could we go?
Phantasmatopia examines utopias both inside and outside of reality, peering at once towards the waning past and headlong towards any one of a myriad futures. To better understand the multitude of pathways humanity could take, this zine presents two examples of alternate societies approaching utopia: one attempted, and one imagined. This half of the zine analyzes Mattapoisett: an imagined community existing in the year 2137, from Marge Piercy's 1976 novel, Woman on the Edge of Time.
