My collection explores the conflict between nuisance and necessity. Ever since I was a child, I have been enchanted by the natural elegance and sheer simplicity of flowers. Their ability to make any surrounding more joyful and fanciful always makes them so endearing to me. I enjoyed nothing more than picking flowers from my Grandad’s garden during the summer holidays, only to have the occasion disturbed by the terrifying buzz of the Bumblebee. A love/ hate relationship grew between the Bees and myself, as I began to understand the importance of their work. Now, as the Bee population begins to decline as a result of harsh chemicals being used in farming and gardening industries alike, we need to be reminded of the essential pollination work and natural beauty the humble Bee creates. Through various processes / mediums, such as digital print and hand painted screen, I have succeeded in  to capturing the elegance of the relationship between the Bumblebee and the flower across a range of silks.
