Anti-glycan antibodies are a class of special antibodies with specific reaction with carbohydrate-based antigens, which are essential for basic research and clinical therapy. As with other antibodies, desired anti-glycan antibodies can be specifically engineered or modified for a variety of purposes, such as affinity maturation, humanization, and half-life extension. The engineered anti-glycan antibodies are possible to be different isotypes and formats, which are usually constructed by a series of modern molecular biology techniques and methods, including hybridomas, genetic engineering techniques, phage display, construction of antibody fragments, and cell-free systems. For better performance, different modified anti-glycan antibodies products by corresponding strategies and techniques should be chosen to suit different applications.
