The Magic Flute - Flyer and Poster

The Magic Flute.
Flyer and poster design.

The Magic Flute is an opera by Mozart that narrates Prince Tamino's quest to rescue Princess Pamina, facing challenges with a magic flute. It addresses themes of wisdom, love and the struggle between good and evil. A timeless masterpiece with captivating music. This triptych and poster is aimed at a young and modern public.

Modern layout.

The design presents a modern layout where the dry stick typography has a great importance. We also took into account putting the text and headlines on a banner. We wanted this design to transmit rhythm, dynamism and contrast. To achieve this we created contrasts of shapes and colors: The contrast of shapes is visualized with the curved lines that appear in the drawing lines as opposed to the straight lines and 90-degree corners that appear in the design. And the color contrast is evident with the use of the color blue as opposed to white.

Sans-serif and serif typefaces.

In this design we have used the combination of two typefaces that complement each other very well: Merriweather and Work Sans. This is because of the structure and the skeleton of these typefaces where you can see that the shape and the opening of their characters are very similar. We have used the Merriweather typeface mainly for the titles even though the main title of the brochure is in Work Sans for aesthetic reasons. And we have used the Work Sans typeface mainly for the body text.

Symbolic elements.

In this design we decided to incorporate some symbolic elements that appear in the play The Magic Flute. We liked the idea of these elements appearing in the form of wavy lines, since this piece of music transmitted these shapes to us. We also used yellow and blue to symbolize day and night, so important in this piece. The typography that appears is strong and clear to stand out above the lines that make up the illustration, so there is no difficulty in reading.
