Our project in the village of Bamakounda, South of Senegal, focuses on creating a warm environment for the students, ensuring that they have a safe and comfortable space to learn in. we also have taken great care to use locally sourced and easy-to-construct materials in the construction of the school to be constucted and mataintained by the locals and to decrease the construction cost of the project. We recognize the importance of creating a learning environment that fosters a sense of connection and belonging among the students. One way we have sought to achieve this is by incorporating plants and trees into the school's design and curriculum. Each student in the school is assigned a specific plant at the the Entrance that they are responsible for taking care of. This helps to instill a sense of ownership and responsibility among the students, as well as a connection to the natural world around them. As the students care for their plants, they will learn about the importance of sustainability and the role that plants play in the ecosystem.
