How optimized apps look on the Google Pixel Tablet?

How do apps look on the Google Pixel Tablet, how optimized are they?
We all know that in today’s tablet world, Apple’s iPad reigns supreme.

Yeah.
Despite my love for Android, I have to admit that the iPad outperforms every Android tablet.

Is it because the iPad is more visually appealing?

Or does iPad have a better screen?

Or perhaps a more powerful configuration?

Or are the iPads made of higher-quality materials?

Certainly not.

The iPadOS is what has beaten every Android tablet. When Apple needed to really focus and separate the iOS just for iPhone, they focused on optimizing all apps for iPadOS.
I’ve used tablets from Huawei, Onelus, Oppo, Samsung, and others, and most of the apps on Android tablets are just enlarged phone apps; they weren’t optimized like Apple did with the iPad.

The proof is that Google had previously stopped updating and developing Android tablets.
But now, Google, has now officially launched the Pixet Tablet with the “Android-L” OS.

Yeah.

Let’s see how Google optimizes basic applications on “Android-L” to see if Google is serious about regaining market share from the iPad.
Google Pixel Tablet is equipped with Android 13L platform with optimized interface for tablets. ( Great )

In this , let’s see how the apps have been optimized for Pixel Tablet in particular or Android tablets in general.

It can be summarized quickly that, currently only Google’s apps are optimized for Pixel Tablet, most of the remaining apps that we often use will still be the interface of a phone that is enlarged and this will take quite a lot of time to change.

I will take screenshots of the apps from the first party (Google) to the third party apps, when rotating the screen horizontally and vertically.

Google Play Store
Google Chrome
YouTube & YouTube Music
Google Discover
Google TV
Home Screen
Google Maps
Google Drive
Instagram
Microsoft Edge
Facebook
Quick Settings
The Quick Settings area on the Google Pixel Tablet is well optimized, with shortcuts on the left and notification area on the right.

Split Screen — split window

Splitting windows on Pixel Tablet is also quite good, with Google’s apps it’s easy to split, the interface will be customized accordingly, but with third-party apps like Facebook it’s a different , it’s not designed to serve this feature on a tablet so it’s quite large and not optimal for display.
This Split Screen feature also does not support multitasking multiple windows, like Samsung DeX or Stage Manager on iPad.

In addition, users can customize to push the app to a corner to make it easier to use by hand.
There is a feature I like on Pixel Tablet, similar to iPad and similar to Galaxy Tab that is the dock bar, Android did not have this bar before so using tablet devices was quite difficult, from Android 12L and now Android 13L then having a dock bar will make it easier to switch apps, faster.

Some messaging apps (I’m not comfortable showing them to you guys) then Telegram has optimized well, the interface is split by columns like on iPad and computer.

Spotify is half optimized, vertically, but when rotated horizontally there is still a lot of blank space on both sides, unlike iPad.

Like Facebook, Messenger is also a phone interface that is enlarged, maybe Google will be a bit jealous of Samsung because Facebook app on Samsung’s folding phone or Galaxy Tab is well optimized.
Google’s current problem still lies in software, you can rest assured that 95% of Google’s apps, 5% left and all third-party apps will need time for developers to optimize again.
Previously Google had missed a “golden time”, leaving the entire tablet market for Apple and that’s also why Apple succeeded with iPad, software and optimization are extremely important factors.

Another issue with Android devices is the black border of the navigation bar, in most apps you can see this black border, it’s quite annoying and takes up some of the display.

Hopefully this time Google will have a way to encourage developers to optimize apps for Pixel Tablet only is already very good.
P.S. Hey, If you are interested, you can check out this store. I usually upgrade my iPhone every year here because they have many promotions. $200 less than Apple Store for iPhone 14 series.
