Here's Day 1 of my #DailyLogoChallenge journey.
CRITERIA
Axis, a rocket ship company, prioritizes precision and safety as their core values. Their objective is to develop a logo that holds deep meaning for their rocket ship products while aiming to offer space trips to space enthusiasts. This logo serves as a representation of their brand identity and values.
ASSOCIATIONS
The design process is driven by symbols and inspirations associated with space exploration. Circular and elliptical trajectories, the enigmatic ambiance of outer space, and the sleek aesthetics of futuristic rocket ships inspire the creative ideation. Several concepts, including a horizontal wordmark, a triangular-shaped wordmark, and a wordmark integrated into rocket ship contrails, are explored. However, the chosen concept incorporates an orbital-inspired wordmark that represents the triad of Product-Audience-Company. It integrates a minimalist rocket ship design into a circular trajectory, symbolizing Axis' connection to Earth and their dedication to space exploration.
STRUCTURE
The logo's structure encompasses key design elements that evoke the desired visual impact. Precise custom-made typography is crafted, utilizing circular arcs with an ovoid profile to form the word "AXIS." Gradients, light glow effects, and distant stars are subtly incorporated into the background, creating depth and an ethereal dimension. The rocket ship, abstracted into a simplified outline, serves as a unifying element, symbolizing the company's journey and connecting various aspects of the logo with its circular trajectory. This cohesive structure results in a visually appealing and meaningful logo.
EXPORT
The final design is a versatile wordmark logo that efficiently represents Axis as a company, their rocket ship products, and the distinctive environment of space exploration. It can adapt seamlessly to a monochromatic version or reduced sizes while retaining its impact and legibility. The logo encapsulates the essence of space exploration, evoking a sense of wonder and adventure. The challenges faced in this project involved avoiding the use of existing futuristic typefaces, maintaining a balanced emphasis on the rocket ship illustration, and integrating geometric precision relevant to the aerospace field.
Lessons learned from this project include the importance of creative problem-solving, achieving visual harmony, and aligning the logo with the client's values and objectives. The final logo enhances Axis' brand identity, conveying their commitment to precision, safety, and space exploration across various applications and mediums.
