photoKandy Studios Website 2014

In the middle of 2014, I finished my third book and I thought it was time to change my website to reflect some of my work. The design came about a little by accident -- I wanted a rather flat style (though there are some shadows in places), and I wanted a large area for images, graphics, and what-not. I also wanted to clearly separate content from chrome, and on smaller screens, the chrome is much reduced (and at one point goes away completely). I also wanted to play a bit with slightly different fonts than usual. The off-center effect is also intended -- I wanted the content to appear towards the right side of the window.
Fonts used: FF Tisa Pro, FF Tisa Sans Pro, Fira Mono, Mono45 Headline (from TypeKit). FontAwesome is used for the icon glyphs.
As you can see in the above image, the site also plays with solid color blocks and long shadows. These blocks re-appear sometimes as the header image as well when there is nothing else suitable to display (though this will change as I have time to create more images).
When the viewport is small enough, the chrome disappears completely, replaced with the familiar hamburger menu. This menu floats above the content and is always present (which is why the content is aligned to the right a bit). When the menu is tapped, the page slides right to reveal the menu (and corresponding chrome) off-screen. The effect is rather slick.
