Nighttime Blue Icebergs

Lonely night icebergs are beautiful and mysterious. What do they do at night and in a storm? What color do they have in the moonlight and underwater? I was so fascinated by these questions that I started a watercolor series about icebergs.
It was important to understand what colors and pigments can be used. I painted all the blues and photographed them. Then I switched to black and white mode to see the volumetric contrast in tone.
Divided into pairs to understand which blues give the best volume in a pair by tone. Chose 603 Marine Blue and 626 Royal Blue Shinhanart. To create the texture effect of sparkling ice, I used salt on the wet watercolor fill.
I drew some seascapes to create a background for the iceberg illustration. Mandatory distinction into 3 parts: sky, sea, underwater world.
Thank you to my dear husband - he was my model for drawing icebergs!
A few more blue crystals of various shapes with and without faces.
And you can have fun turning strict and sad nighttime icebergs into colorful candies!
