Gone In 60 Seconds | A Print Project

As a final project in our typography class we were asked to design a movie booklet after our favorite movie. I had immediately chosen Gone In 60 Seconds as my preferred movie of choice as I felt it had a good plot, storyline, and motto. The motto of the story was that no matter the circumstances, the love for a friend and brother will always bring friends and family back closer together.

The concept for the book was derived from certain aspects of the film. For example, the movie title has been cut into segments to create a sense of movement as well as the sense of something being broken or damaged similar to breaking a glass object. In the film, the car theives used a chalkboard to write down the list of cars that they were going to steal. I thought I would be a great idea to use this as my cover to create texture and conceal the identity of the book.

In the beginning of the movie the theives used a blacklight in order to conceal the list of cars. I chose to make the main characters type, Memphis (Nicholas Cage) blue and centered him since he was the magnetic force or glue that brought and held everyone together in order to get the job done. Towards the end of the movie characters got closer and closer to Memphis which is why some of the characters start out on the ends of the page and work their way towards the middle.

Overall this was a very fun project and I am very happy with the finished product. The book is perfect bounded and put together by myself. The typefaces used are Helvetica 95 Black and Letter Gothic. Thanks for looking.
