Project 1: Hidden Initials

Original sketches were a play on initials as art and repetitive patterns. The final product (seen below) was a combination of the strongest sketch of the categories. The sharpness of the initials design is a contrast to the soft sweeping waves of the background.
Final Project 1

Project 2: Repetition & Motif

The original sketches were possible patterns to be repeated. The final product (seen below) consisted of 48 2" x 2" repeats of the selected sketch.
Final Project 2

Project 3: Self Portrait

The initial sketches broke the image down to quarter in squares in which I did a value study of the image. This was furthered by using hole punched paper of varying values and a stippling technique. The final product (seen below) was made with cut pieces of different magazine clippings featuring textures of all values and a self designed value scale.

Project 4: Perspective

The initial sketch was a perspective practice. The final product (seen below) compined repetition and a full grayscale in a geometric perspective image.
Final Project 4

Project 5: Contrast

The collages represent contrasting words: ostentatious (above) and refined (below).  They were then copied using mixed media.

Final Project 5
