Student Brief
Students were assigned to design a 16-page, A4 magazine and a digital smart phone prototype using the collection of essays titled ‘Playfully Rigid’ by Design Observer. Students were supplied with unstyled text and instructed to formulate their own multi-column grid system, baseline grid, paragraph, and character styles and so on. Images were also supplied for some of the articles, but students were encouraged to source other images according to the requirements of their own publication design.
The completed design of the publication meets the brief's objectives while emphasising a strong grid system, hierarchy, colour palette, consistency, relevant imagery, and a solid visual identity, allowing the publication to be dynamic and eye catching for its target audience.
