Oceans Oversights - Illustration

The Ocean Oversights series is an engaging and educational social media project created by Dakshin Foundation, Bangalore, during my 2 months internship (June - July). Dakshin Foundation is dedicated to marine conservation and the advocacy of fisherfolks livelihoods. This series aims to raise awareness about responsible citizenship towards the ocean and its diverse ecosystems and intends to start a dialogue among individuals. By highlighting the importance of responsible behavior, the project seeks to promote sustainable practices among individuals enjoying coastal environments and participating in various aquatic activities. The series consists of three episodes, each focusing on a different context: "At the Beach," "While Diving," and "Watersports." As a member of the Communications team, I collaborated closely with researchers from various programs to brainstorm ideas, create compelling content, and ideate visuals and illustrations for The Ocean Oversights series.
"At the Beach" highlights responsible behavior, urging viewers to minimize ecological impact. From proper waste disposal to respecting marine wildlife and nesting areas, this episode empowers individuals to preserve the fragile balance of coastal ecosystems.

"While Diving" educates scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts on responsible practices. By emphasizing the importance of avoiding contact with marine life and habitats, this episode promotes sustainable diving and the protection of delicate coral reefs and endangered species.

"Watersports" focuses on responsible conduct during water-based recreational activities. Viewers learn to minimize harm to marine ecosystems by avoiding sensitive areas, securing equipment to prevent debris, and respecting wildlife habitats. The episode encourages the adoption of safety measures and sustainable watersport options.
