Hand quilted cotton and wool, 20" x 20." This small quilt was inspired by the traditional French quilting technique of Boutis, where elements in the quilt are raised by stuffing with cotton or wool fiber. I used a thin cotton for the front of the quilt, stuffing it with brightly colored wool to create soft colors, making the traditional technique more contemporary. The floral imagery was inspired by the French poppy field I encountered during my trip abroad in Spring 2013.
