A Self-Directed Enquiry into Musical Education

Brief: Find, interrogate, question, talk and reflect, develop, make and shape, test and reformat, distribute and circulate – publish meaningful material through appropriate means and channels to find your comrades.

Summary: I chose to investigate the impact of musical education on young adults. I interviewed and photographed friends I knew who played musical instruments, and created a publication out of a sample of my findings.
An allusion to the melodic nature of speech, the body text includes musical notation that
records the moments of emphasis, rest, volume and laughter from the interview.

A key for these musical symbols is included for readers who do not have previous musical knowledge, but has been placed at the back of the book, so the visual of typographical and musical notation combining in one body of text can first be appreciated.
