The Canarian is a collaborative illustration project similar to The Parisianer and The Tokyoiter - imaginary magazines inspired by The New Yorker. Every week a new cover is illustrated by a different artist, depicting their unique view of the Canary Islands and their relation to them. Here is my illustration for The Canarian No. 40:
I chose to represent the island of Gran Canaria as a surreal and mystical carnival ride, a whimsical depiction that translates my personal experience living here, taking inspiration from all the natural and cultural elements arround me.
