Engkanto: Folktales of an Enchanted Kind (2023) is a love letter to my home and culture, as well as an exploration of the rich history and mythology of Filipino folklore through fashion. The engkanto lookbook currently consists of six looks, each inspired by a different Filipino folklore creature. This work was created in collaboration with my sibling Laurence Sabrine, who styled each look. I felt it was important for me to collaborate with my sibling as they understand my vision and my perspective as an artist. Our symbiotic relationship allowed us to create a this body of work. We felt it was a great opportunity to highlight local fashion designers and creatives in Pōneke. You will see their pieces incorporated throughout the series.
