Zumbido (or “buzzing” in English) is a project that arose from the concern for the increasing loss of bees in the world. As we know they play a very important role in conserving the natural balance. For this reason, I designed an object that would provide the bees with a station that would help them with their basic bee needs, such as a water source and flowers to pollinate.

It consists of clay pots of different sizes and 3D-printed sprues that are stacked to create different combinations to suit different contexts.

Water not only helps bees stay hydrated, but it also aids in retrieving water and regulating the hive's temperature.

Something to consider while designing the water station is the possibility of the bees drawing due to a lack of a surface for them to stand on.

The drinking station is designed to limit the amount of water that can be poured, thanks to its organic shape that prevents overflowing. In addition, 3D printing has the characteristic of leaving a rough texture on the printed surfaces. On a scale of the size of the bees, it allows them to have a better grip when drinking water. This led me to create a station in which the bees could have enough texture and space to safely enjoy the water.
Materials: clay & 3d printing
