Lilac Garden
History of the Lilac Garden begins in 1954, when in the area of Shchelkovskoe highway on the initiative of the famous breeder Leonid Alekseevich Kolesnikov created experimental selection nursery lilacs.
Many varieties of the breeder became popular not only in the USSR, but also in the world. On the presentation of a group of scientists in 1952 Leonid Kolesnikov received the Stalin Prize for breeding a large number of new varieties of lilacs.
The most famous variety is the "Beauty of Moscow". Its peculiarity is that the lilac-colored bud turns into a snow-white flower in the process of flowering.
You can also see other famous Kolesnikov varieties in the garden, such as "Hortensia", "Moscow Morning", "Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya", "Lights of Moscow", "Galina Ulanova" and so on...
