Thatched Cottages

There's something bucolic about the idea of living in a thatched cottage. Life would be simple and always filled with wonder. But in reality, the thatch probably starts to mold after the first good rain. That means the house would always smell musty and there would be a risk of inhaling mycotoxins. And the thatch would constantly need to be repaired and replaced. Not to mention that you would have to light the house with candles. To do otherwise would spoil the mood. But a tipped candle is a great way to burn the whole thing down.

But knowing all of that doesn't matter, does it? You still feel a twinge of longing whenever you see a thatched cottage.
