Global Social Mobility Index
Corriere della Sera – La Lettura
Artwork for Visual Data, the column on La Lettura, the cultural supplement of Corriere Della Sera.
The visualization shows the index of social mobility for 30 countries. This index was created by the World Economic Forum, which defines social mobility as "the movement in personal circumstances either “upwards” or “downwards” of an individual in relation to those of their parents."
For each country, the social mobility index and the scores assigned to the 10 indicators analysed to calculate it (health, current education, access to technology, etc.) are displayed. The selection includes the most populous countries in the world for which data on social mobility is available.
