Initial Experimentation
The only light source I used to paint was my smartphone.

Started with simple subtle experiments. This photo is definitely one of my favorites.

I then tried light painting in space to produce different forms with different implied meanings.

Finally, I tried using the long exposure to transform my model's figure within a single photograph.

Final Piece
Final Piece
This is a single long-exposure photograph.
The idea of my portrait is to show a transition that we all go through at some point in our life and that just because we don’t have a clear vision of things doesn’t mean they don’t exist. When we feel down we take some time to get over it, we think about it, work on it, and slowly build up our strength to overcome it. Since that takes time, long exposure photography was my chosen technique. With long exposures, one can capture a period of time and compress into a single photo.
