Flat vs Skeuomorphic Design: I created both a flat design and a skeuomorphic design of a Bible Study app that included a section for hand written sketches and notes. The goal was to keep the iconography simple, yet readable since it on a small device. I added drop shadows, gradients and more color to the skeuomorphic version in order to make them pop off the page.
Illustrated Letterform: I chose Cubano to work from because it is relaxed and fit the vibe of skateboard brand. I wanted to depict a very Souther Californian feel to the illustrated with my color palette. I felt like the end result would work really well for a shirt design or logo.

Isometric Illustration: I attempted to draw my 1951 Buick in an isometric perspective. The goal was to compose it in a way that looked like it might be an option for a racing video game. I wanted to deconstruct the car and show choices in tires, wheels, etc.
Monochromatic Illustration: My monochromatic illustration is that of my home before we moved to the Pacific Northwest. It is not clear in the mockup, but I chose a bluish-grey tone that made the image look tranquil, nostalgic and somewhat dreamy. I added texture to the grass to roughen the image and add to the feeling of past memories.
Illustrated Book Series: I chose to illustrate the first three books of the Chronicles of Narnia series. I am still in process of finishing "Voyage of the Dawn Treader". I found inspiration in some Mid-Century Modern Poster work I came across and wanted to apply portions of that style to the covers. Aslan the lion is a key figure throughout the series, so I chose to use him as a recurring image across the three books. Each silhouette and scene with in was chosen to fit with the storyline of the books.
