7 Creative Design Strategies with Wall Clocks
Project Brief
Using an every day object, design seven distinct compositions using the 7 Creative Strategies of design: Combination, Juxtaposition, Isolation, Metaphor/Simile, Change of Context/Environment, Physical Shape Similarity, and Material Change. I chose the wall clock.

The Process
Define. Actually learn and understand how to apply each of the seven creative strategies. Distinguish the idiosyncrasies that make each one unique.
Discover. Brainstorm, research, sketch, revise, rework, experiment, and use all the design tools at your disposal from pencil to Photoshop and everything in between.
Deliver. Share and consult with peers at every stage. Apply constructive feedback. Share and consult some more. Eventually get to final designs that meet the brief and appear professional. And then... share with the world!

Final Compositions
Combination: Bubbles and clocks become moments of time full of joy and wonder.
Yes, "obubblious"' isn't technically a word, but it conveys the childlike peace of being utterly oblivious to the clock.
Juxtaposition: The clock is set in the eye so that watching the clock brings on whole new meaning.
It's impossible not to keep your eye on the clock.
Isolation: When everyone runs on different time, the one source of accuracy is the clock on the wall.
Synchronize watches... now.
Metaphor: The clock becomes subject to the short life of the simple daisy.
As in life, time is like a flower that grows quickly and then dies away. See Job 14:2
Change in Context/Environment: Ancient trees measure time in years, decades, and centuries.
They have no need for the seconds, minutes, and hours of a clock.
Physical Shape Similarity: An obvious connection, but the clock has no authority on the sinking sun.
Golden hour happens daily regardless of what time the clock declares.
Material Swap: A yolky clock face tells one and all...
It's time to eat!
Wall clocks may become obsolete as time sits on wrists, in the palms of hands, in pockets, on the screens before our eyes, but they'll always have their place in history... and design.
