TSHIRT DESIGN PROJECT
Assignment: You will create a one color hand crafted, custom lettered t-shirt design using either Photoshop, Illustrator or Adobe CC Mobile apps on the iPad. You will be introduced to what makes a good t-shirt design. You will evaluate several typographic solutions, learn the steps to creating a t-shirt design as well as being responsible for creating a unique, well thought out type design of your own. Once the designs are complete, we will be going on a field trip to Ink Lounge. This one day workshop covers the basics of screenprinting on T-Shirts. You will cover art, film prep, screens, mesh, emulsion, squeegees, inks, exposure, registration - pretty much everything you need to know to get up and printing.
I wanted to base my design off of part of a bible verse, so I went through lots of ideas and landed on Luke 23:34, "Love them anyway." I found a cursive calligraphy type font I liked and began playing around with the text and layouts.
This was my design I landed on. I did decide to add on three more drops on the right side later on. I took his type into illustrator and drew over it with the pen tool to make it smooth and added a stroke. This made is easier to export. I then went through the screen printing process of making my emulsion, applying the ink, and heat pressing it. Here are some pictures and videos of my process, then the final product at the end!

Enjoy!
