Lullaby
A Pre-sleep sensory game for the visually impaired

The game can be played by a visually impaired person or a sighted person. It dwells on the idea that your vision, if used, would be taken as a disadvantage thus bridging the gap between the two. A person before going to sleep will place this game on their pillow. A combination has been embedded in the game that would be solved upon hearing the sound of the rotating dials via your pillow's surface. As soon as someone lifts their head up and uses their vision to solve the combination they would be playing at a disadvantage as the combination can be solved only with a sense of hearing the sound.
My journey started by getting overwhelmed by the amount of information I was surrounded with on all kinds of print and digital media. The amount of information we have access to and the amount of information we have subconsciously been fed in our daily lives is building up our worldview. No wonder we close our eyes to gain perspective and peace. For a moment I started wondering what all experiences would be creating a visually impaired person's world view. And are they as overwhelmed as we are at the moment?

It's embedded in us to spread familiarity amongst our species. We like to be a part of the world where what we are doing is making sense to others and for them to make sense of our work we want our experiences to coincide. We are somewhere taking up the responsibility of building others' worldviews while still trying to figure out ours. But is there a way to co-exist parallelly? To do the same things a visually impaired person does and still have different perspectives. From here my journey of bridging the gap between a visually impaired person and a sighted person.

These presentation boards were originally engraved on MDF boards which were being translated into Braille. The intent was to communicate this design intervention to the visually impaired as they were my inspiration for this project.
