The NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) is an eating disorder awareness association committed to educate and help both those struggling with an eating disorder and their loved ones who struggle with how to help. The poster series' use of strong shape and bold color were designed to cut through the clutter and illustrate some frightening statistics about eating disorders. Eating disorders are the leading cause of death among mental illnesses and are not to be taken lightly; they are also seen as a “social” problem and are misunderstood. The choice of using dark, graphic, heavy concepts and design elements are meant to trigger fear and provoke thought, ultimately starting a conversation and generating more awareness.
