TS house - Tucuman, Argentina - 2020
DESCRIPTION
Designed for a young couple and their growing family, this house is characterized, much like its owners, by its simplicity, functionality and embracing environment. With a nearly blind cement base, the front facade of the ground floor features a wooden entrance that harmonizes with the texture of the concrete. Upon entering, a small hallway provides various possibilities for living in the home. To the left, a decorative staircase with floating steps embedded in the concrete wall or the combined living room, dining area, and kitchen. Towards the back, the alfresco can be seen through a semi-internal courtyard, where the barbecue is already set up to welcome guests. To the right, there are sanitary facilities, including a toilet and a laundry room. The latter is relatively more concealed due to the turning of the main door. The alfresco and the open-plan living and dining area, with large floor-to-ceiling sliding windows, invite simultaneous use and create a welcoming atmosphere, if weather permitting.
Due to the irregular shape of the slightly narrow front and wider back terrain, the design takes advantage of the entire width. Each floor features rooms parallel to the front and back lines, maximizing the usable area in the back. A break is created between the silhouette of the living area and the gallery, reserving space for a future pool and sun deck, integrated with this corner, allowing direct access from the gallery and providing a visual connection from the living room. All spaces have a close functional and visual relationship with each other. On the upper floor, upon arrival, there is the option to directly enter the bathroom facing the front of the house or continue to the hallway leading to the three bedrooms facing north, towards the back, taking advantage of the privacy and sunlight it offers. The master bedroom suite, which overlooks both the back and the front, completes the house, floating above the projection of the concrete base. All bedrooms have windows on multiple sides to facilitate cross ventilation, and the eaves allow sunlight in winter while limiting it in summer.
This 248 m2 home is a source of pride for us, not only because of the quality of the people we had the privilege to design for but also because of the aesthetic and functional result we achieved thanks to the design freedoms granted to us. With a white colour scheme, a concrete base, and exposed brick details, the TS house is ideal for family living and fostering close relationships among its members.
